Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury presented the final recommendations of the National Semiconductor Task Force to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday.
Formed in January 2025, the task force comprised government officials, private sector leaders, academics, and Non-Resident Bangladeshis to evaluate the country’s semiconductor landscape and chart its development strategy. Chowdhury emphasized prioritizing chip design along with testing and packaging, identifying them as competitive entry points for Bangladesh.
The report includes 23 strategic recommendations under three pillars: Skill Development, Business Environment and Policy Support, and Global Partnership. An executive committee will be set up under the Office of the Chief Adviser to implement the roadmap.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s potential as a new investment hub amid global semiconductor supply chain diversification, Chowdhury expressed optimism that future governments will sustain these initiatives to foster long-term innovation and growth in the sector.
