The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change will collaborate with UNICEF to ensure active youth participation in Bangladesh’s climate adaptation initiatives. This was announced by ministry advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan during a meeting with UNICEF Bangladesh Representative Rana Flowers on Tuesday (July 1). The joint efforts will focus on environmental education-based action plans and local-level climate initiatives, with emphasis on accountability, coordination, and youth inclusion in monitoring infrastructure and water-related projects.
Rana Flowers highlighted climate change’s harmful impacts on children, including flooding, malnutrition, and education disruption, and reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to involving youth in climate solutions. She proposed producing a joint documentary series with child-focused environmental messages to build awareness. Rizwana Hasan welcomed the idea, suggesting integration into school curricula, teacher training, and student capacity building to foster climate resilience among youth nationwide.
