Bangladesh Railway on High Alert Ahead of Eid to Ensure Passenger Safety and Curb Irregularities

Bangladesh Railway has instructed all officials and employees to remain vigilant and proactive to ensure a safe, smooth, and secure Eid journey for homebound travelers.

The directive was issued during a meeting held on Thursday at Kamalapur Railway Station, chaired by Railways Ministry Secretary Md Fahimul Islam. With a significant increase in passenger movement expected from Dhaka and other major cities ahead of the Eid holidays, officials were urged to give top priority to passenger and train safety, reports BSS.

Railway Director General Md Afzal Hossain and other senior officials attended the meeting, where strong emphasis was placed on preventing ticketless travel. Members of the Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB) were instructed to strictly enforce ticket checks and prevent unauthorized boarding.

Authorities were also directed to take firm action against black market ticket sales and to ensure no passengers travel on train rooftops—a dangerous and illegal practice.

To strengthen enforcement efforts and eliminate irregularities, mobile courts will be deployed at key railway stations across the country starting June 1.
