The Bangladesh Emerging Women’s team fell to an eight-wicket defeat against the South Africa Emerging side in the third and final T20 match on Sunday at the Cox’s Bazar Academy Ground, conceding the series 2-1.
Bangladesh had started the series on a high note, winning the opening match by five wickets. However, back-to-back losses in the remaining two games handed the series victory to the visitors.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh struggled to build momentum due to a lackluster batting display, finishing at 117-7. Captain Sharmin Akter Supta top-scored with 36, while opener Rubya Haider Jhilik contributed 27 runs.
South Africa chased down the target with ease, reaching 121-2 in 18.2 overs. Simone Lourens anchored the innings with an unbeaten 40, while opener Faye Tunnicliffe scored 35 and Alexandra Clare Candler added 30. Their 62-run opening stand laid the foundation for a comfortable win.
Candler was also instrumental with the ball, claiming 3-22 to dismantle the Bangladesh batting order, supported by Delmari Tucker who took 2-19.
Despite the T20 series loss, Bangladesh had earlier clinched the three-match one-day series 2-1, showing promise in the longer format.
