Bangladesh Emerging Team Clinches ODI Series with 34-Run Win Over South Africa

Bangladesh Men’s Emerging team sealed a 2-1 series victory over South Africa Emerging with a convincing 34-run win in the third and final ODI at Rajshahi Stadium on Friday.

After high-scoring contests in the first two games, the decider proved to be a low-scoring battle. Batting first, Bangladesh were bowled out for 225 in 45.5 overs. Despite the modest total, their bowlers rose to the occasion, dismissing South Africa for 191 in just 38.2 overs.

Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan was the star of the show, claiming 4 for 26 and dismantling the South African top order. He received solid support from Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby and Wasi Siddique, who picked up two wickets each.

South Africa’s lower order showed some resistance, with Titan Michale Van Vuuren top-scoring with 40 and Nqobani Handsome Mokoena adding 37. However, the rest of the lineup failed to handle Rakibul’s spin attack, with most top-order batters falling for single-digit scores.

Earlier, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby also made a crucial contribution with the bat, scoring a 58 off 77 balls, including five fours and three sixes, helping Bangladesh cross the 200-run mark. Skipper Akbar Ali added 38, while Mahfizul Islam Robin chipped in with 26.

With the ODI series wrapped up, both teams now turn their focus to a two-match four-day series. The first game begins on May 20 at Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, followed by the second match on May 27 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
