The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a significant prize money boost for the 2023–2025 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, with Bangladesh set to receive US$720,000 (approximately Tk 8.7 crore) for finishing seventh — their best performance in the competition to date.
Bangladesh secured four wins out of 12 matches in this cycle, marking notable milestones including a historic 2-0 series whitewash against Pakistan on away soil, their first Test victory in the Caribbean against the West Indies since 2009, and a home win over New Zealand.
This marks a major improvement for the Tigers, who failed to register a single win in the inaugural 2019–2021 WTC cycle and managed just one victory in the 2021–2023 cycle — a memorable upset against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui.
The current WTC cycle will conclude with a final between defending champions Australia and South Africa at Lord’s, scheduled for June 11–15.
