Faruk Ahmed’s tenure as President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appears to be nearing its end, despite his vow to contest his removal. The National Sports Council (NSC) has officially canceled his nomination and proposed former national captain and first Test centurion, Aminul Islam Bulbul, as his replacement.
Bulbul’s appointment is expected to be finalized at a BCB board meeting scheduled for Friday at 4:30 PM, where he will be confirmed as a director and then elected—likely unopposed—as president for the next four months until new elections. The meeting will be chaired by BCB director Nazmul Abedin Fahim, with participation from key figures including former cricketer Akram Khan.
While Faruk has appealed to the ICC, the board appears poised for a leadership transition signaling a significant shift in BCB’s governance.
