Airport Clarifies Viral Video Incident Involving Aggressive Passenger at Dhaka Airport

A recent viral video showing a passenger aggressively throwing and kicking his luggage at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport sparked widespread social media backlash, with many assuming the expatriate was mistreated. However, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has issued a statement clarifying the incident.

According to a CAAB press release issued on June 4, the passenger—identified as Md. Tuhin Ali, a Malaysia Airlines traveler—exhibited erratic and aggressive behavior at Boarding Bridge 6 around 1:36 AM on June 3. He reportedly shouted, hurled abusive language, and threw his belongings, including his passport and cash, causing disruption to airport operations and other flights.

Despite efforts by airline staff and security to calm him and assist him through immigration procedures, the passenger continued to behave aggressively. His family later confirmed he had a history of such behavior, particularly under the influence of drugs.

The situation was eventually brought under control, and the passenger left the airport around 5:30 AM. CAAB emphasized that airport staff handled the situation with professionalism and urged the public to verify facts before sharing such incidents online to prevent damage to the reputation of the country’s key infrastructure.
