The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched a fresh raid on the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) headquarters in Mirpur on Saturday, intensifying its investigation into alleged irregularities and corruption within the organization.
A four-member ACC team arrived at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium around 1:00 PM, marking the second such operation in just over a month. The previous raid, carried out by a three-member ACC special unit, focused on alleged mismanagement related to Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) ticket sales and other concerns.
Sources indicate that the latest operation aims to examine several key issues, including possible constitutional violations within the BCB, questions surrounding the legitimacy of the current board, irregularities in the third-division league selection process during a former president’s tenure, and financial corruption allegations involving current BCB President Faruq Ahmed.
During the earlier raid, ACC officials reported finding discrepancies in income and expenditure related to Mujib Borsho (Mujib Year) celebrations organized by the board. Relevant documents were seized, and a report was expected to be submitted to the ACC’s Enforcement Unit for further review.
Complaints regarding the third-division cricket league’s selection process are also being actively investigated.
As of now, the ACC has not released an official statement on Saturday’s raid.
