Since October 2023, 785 Palestinian athletes and sports officials have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza and the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Football Association. Deputy head Susan Shalabi stated that 437 football players were among the dead, with most fatalities occurring in Gaza. Additionally, 288 sports facilities, including stadiums, gyms, and club buildings, have been partially or completely destroyed. Shalabi called for an end to attacks on Palestinian sports and urged protection for athletes and infrastructure amid fears the death toll will rise as many remain trapped under rubble.
