The two-day 18th Bangladesh Denim Expo began on Monday at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka, featuring 57 exhibitors from 13 countries, including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, China, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Vietnam, UAE, Germany, Switzerland, and the USA.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s growing influence in global apparel, Mostafiz Uddin, Founder and CEO of Bangladesh Denim Expo, noted that the country has become the fastest-growing apparel exporter to the United States in the first quarter of 2025, recording a 26.64% year-on-year growth.
“This growth places Bangladesh ahead of other key exporters such as India (24.04%), Pakistan (17.49%), Vietnam (13.96%), and China (4.18%)—at a time when the U.S. market remains volatile due to the recent global reciprocal tariffs imposed by the Trump administration,” said Mostafiz.
He emphasized that Bangladesh’s strengths in skill development, sustainability, and innovation should serve as leverage in trade negotiations. “We need our trade partners just as much as their consumers need us,” he added, underscoring the importance of collaboration and progress in the apparel industry.
